Marble Mania!
Something is afoot in the land of magic because there is no other logical explanation... or at least not one that I'm ready to accept.
For those of you that came to Dan and my wedding, this may sound familiar...
It was less than a week before our wedding and we had a to-do a list a mile long. We were putting the finishing touches on our house we had spent 1.5 years building together, we were preparing to move into it, we had purchased an investment property and were attempting to get it cleaned up so our new tenant could move in, oh, and we were planning a 3-day wedding extravaganza at our new house. We were a little, ummm, how can I say it...stressed out.
While cleaning up the junk piles (and piles and more piles) at our new rental property (did I say I was quite crabby at this point?!?!) I noticed something glint in the sunlight. It was in the burn pile I was raking. I thought I had picked up all the broken glass already that was strewn around the acre of land (endless buckets of it!) I kicked it off to the side and when I reached for it, I realized it was a very pretty old marble. I thought "Huh... that's odd and pretty. Neat." A few minutes later, Dan came around the house and asked me to hold out my hand. In it he plopped a pretty, old marble he had just found in the dirt. When I showed him the marble I had just found, it made us laugh a little at the coincidence, and we sort of thought it was the universe's way of helping us take pause and think of what the culmination of this hectic week represented - something very beautiful we had found in one another.
Okay, so that's a nice story, right? But here's the kicker. Since that day, we have simultaneously found marbles on many different occasions. I'm serious! They are always in the dirt or covered up in the grass, leaves, etc. We find them on vacations, in random places we hike, and many scattered across our property in Grants Pass. There have been times when one of us is having a really crappy day and we'll find one and for some reason, it makes the whole day seem better. The latest one I found in our back yard next to the mole hill Dan had just dumped 500 gallons of water down (in attempt to drown the mole who desecrates his lovely lawn.) The day after, a new mole hill appeared (the mole lives on!) and next to the hole, covered in mud, was a marble.
The collection is growing and I'm always grateful for the reminder they offer: Dust yourself off and remember just how beautiful it all is.

Are you kidding me? This is amazing, I love this story. I knew that marbles could be so romantic.
