I’m starving already and tomorrow is day number one
Each December, I find myself dipping into a cleansing phase
and this year is no exception. I never
consciously notice its coming but sure enough, sometime in December, I start
doing a little personal housekeeping. I
gravitate to something aimed at cleaning the emotional, psychological and
spiritual cobwebs and gunk that a busy year has built up. Maybe it’s my own version of Advent.
This year’s journey is a literal cleanse – I’ve decided that
I’m taking on The Master Cleanse. I had
never heard of it until two weeks ago after my friend Katie made a reference to
it. I immediately thought “Yes!
This is just what I want!” Basically,
the cleanse consists of limiting your intake to drinking only a concoction of
water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper for at least 10 days. So, starvation by lemonade, some might
say. After reading lots of online info on the
cleanse, it appears for some it’s a weight loss method but to others it’s a way
to help re-start your body’s natural state by removing the junk we put into
it. My goal is the later, although
tonight I’m curious about what type of effect this will have on the scale
readout.
For those that know me well know that my Aries nature
usually finds me diving head first into most things. I’m not one of those with commitment issues - au contraire mon ami! So, it is with little trepidation I begin
this ritual and I’m most excited to see what this journey brings.
